With multiship checkout, the customer is directed to a single checkout, called the “parent order” where they can configure orders for many recipients. Upon checkout completion, separate orders for each recipient for individual fulfillment. We’ll refer to these as “child orders”.
Parent Order
A parent order is created in Shopify. This holds the original payment and payment method.
The parent order is then canceled without refund to avoid double counting sales in Shopify reports.
Child Order
A child order is created for each recipient. These are marked as paid but do not have a payment method.
